Updated plans for The Grand Experience, a development in West Des Moines, Iowa, US, that would include a new indoor water park and family entertainment centre, could be finalised by City Council in the near future.

Expected to cost an estimated US$400m, the project, if approved, would feature a 45,000sq.ft indoor water park and a large family entertainment centre, as well as a hotel, restaurants and retail spaces.

The updated plans also feature an outdoor amphitheatre which was not included in the initial plans.

First announced in November 2022, The Grand Experience was originally set to include a 100,000sq.ft water park and cost upwards of $600m.

Construction to begin in 2027

Construction was initially on track to begin in late 2025 and is now expected to get underway in early 2027, should the updated plans be approved.

It is expected that the work would take up to 10 years to complete.
